I'm playing a largely co-op campaign using the NUTS system and the new Western Front book, doing the D-Day campaign. I chose to make the campaign focus around a fictional 3rd Platoon, Dog Company, 1st Battalion, 28th Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. 8th Infantry fought at D-Day, was part of the breakout forces that took Avranches and Brittany, advanced across France, engaged in the bloody battle of Hurtgen Forest and then into the Rhine by the end of the War. 1. Week 1 (June 1944) – D-Day, the landing at Utah Beach. Pretty brutal game, involved the entire platoon and multiple players each running a US squad.
Full battle report: link 2. Week 2 (June 1944) – Our Star gets a chance to refit and get replacements 3. Week 3 (June 1944) – The Patrol mission focused on recently promoted Sgt. Herbet who took over 1st Squad after Sgt Toomey was injured on the Beach.

Very Cool. Great looking tables. I read your two reports. I really liked the D-Day landing. I like how you detail the action. Love the Victory Force miniatures – I have a ton of them. I got ya bookmarked for your upcoming reports. Thanks to you I just spent almost an hour digging through my moving boxes looking for Nuts! 4th Ed. Found it! My wife came down to the basement and asked what in the world I was doing. I told her this guy made me do it. She rolled her eyes and left me to continue to dig. Thanks, John |

While admirable, I have to point out that not only would D Co be a Heavy Weapons Company (81s and (1917A1s formed into a weapons assault boat team), but the 28th Infantry/8th ID (of which my father was one of) did not land until 4 July on Utah. You confused them with the 8th Infantry Regiment, of the 4th ID, who landed on 6 June on Utah. A minor point, but an important one. |

…using the NUTS system and the new Western Front book, doing the D-Day campaign… Wait – what's this? New campaign books for Nuts!? How have I missed that?? |

A minor point, but an important one. Thanks jgawne, I chose the 8th Infantry because it seemed to back-fit my game concept without doing detailed research as I generated the game report. I thought Utah beach was a good fit because I lucked out on the Beach Defense rolls and it was much easier than it could have been, so I just said this was a section of Utah beach as opposed to planning everything out and stuck in the 8th without checking enough. I'm gonna change that now -- gotta love the internet! New unit for background – fictional involvement in 1st Squad, 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. |

Wait – what's this? New campaign books for Nuts!? How have I missed that?? Yeah, there was just a big 'ol Kickstarter that finished for the NUTS system – four new Campaign books, new Hell Hath no Fury tank book, a new massive Weird War book, more battle maps and a NUTS Mission card deck. Delivers in April. link |

Thanks – does that mean that they aren't going to on general release? |

Of course, that being said, the 28th (Lions of Cantigny) were still the supreme infantry regiment of the entire war! But the 8th was not half bad either. |

@Whirlwind, they will go on general sale in the April-May timeframe. |
