The UK's Royal Mail has suspended international deliveries as a result of a cyber attack. As of last night at 7pm, it is not possible to buy international postage using Royal Mail's Click and Drop service, which a number of UK wargames suppliers use. This affects every business in the UK that sells internationally, and as of the time of writing there is no indication when Royal Mail expects to resume international services. Packages already in the system may be delayed. Delays are also expected on international items arriving in the UK. Please bear in mind that if you order from the UK, your order may be delayed. Post sent within the UK is unaffected. Link: link |

You say "cyber attack." The link says "cyber incident." Do we know this was an attack and not the more usual human error and refusal to play nicely with one another? |

There's always someone ready to quibble 🙄 Does this help? link |

News in the UK are saying Royal Mail has been hit by ransomware |

It's widely reported in the UK as a ransomware attack. The Royal Mail site is less specific and less alarmist. 🙂 The Royal Mail international incidents page is probably the best page to go to for updates, which is why I link to it. It has been a constant source of information for the past three years of disrupted mail services. |

Brutally, I hate to rely on The Guardian for information, but yes, that helped. Thanks. Given the amount of damage done by incompetence, laziness and wishful thinking, some days I find forthright theft refreshing. At least someone had a plan and executed it. |

Yes, I feel the same about the Daily Mail. |

Not to mention the Express… |

"At least someone had a plan and executed it." The current wave of ransomware cyber attacks is hugely disruptive for the businesses involved. I know one which is still rebuilding its systems two weeks later. Ultimately we all pay for this criminal activity, which largely comes out of Russia and its subsidiaries. Putins cyberwar against the West. |

Hey, it can be cyber war AND criminal theft! That way Putin's cronies win twice. |
robert piepenbrink | 14 Jan 2023 3:54 p.m. PST |
Oh, I'm not condoning them. In a high-tech society, I've got no problem with shooting people who deliberately disrupt systems, whether for cash or amusement. But I bet the damage they do is a rounding error next to bureaucratic incompetence, inter-agency clashes or just "it's not procedure." [Specific examples deleted to keep this from getting even more political. Please insert your own.] Ransomware people may be murderous thugs, but at least they know they're murderous thugs. |

and this at the same time the US has a cyber incident with air travel, all at the same time the west has decided to send more weapons to go fight Russia. Coincidenca? |

Royal Mail is still working to resolve the issue as of the latest update (17th January). Although the situation does appear to have changed in that imports to the UK are now not affected. Meanwhile, my pile of orders for export, especially to the US, grows… Couriers to the US are two and a half times the price of postage and not a viable option. |

I don't mind waiting, but with no tracking, I have no idea when my orders will arrive here in the US. I feel like it's 1980 all over again, and placing an order thru the mail with my Dad's check. No idea when /if I will get my minis. |
