… Heroes "Despite the selflessness and valor exemplified by segregated African-American troops during World War II, their heroic stories have been largely overlooked. Any of these stories--and others--deserve a good movie treatment. But PLEASE, not by today's Hollywood! TVAG |

sigh. I'm actually the guy that pointed out the 320th were the first black unit to land on D-day. (In Spearheading D-day – called one of the 10 best books on D-day by the wall Street Journal. still in print after 20 years…). Linda read that and picked my brain to do the book. To be honest, they really were not all that heroic. No more so than many, many other units. They'll probably end up getting a Congressional Gold medal, while the real heroes of the Negro Volunteer Infantry go totally unrecognized. |
