We were asked about blondes TMP link

I do similar but simpler approaches for brunettes, raven hair, and various other colours (green, pink, etc.).

But redheads get the most work and detail. Almost always two base colours and two highlights with one wash that may come after the base, the first, or second highlight. Almost always there's a special highlight, too. Mostly bangs, but also the bitter end.

I also will use a wide palette. Browns, reds, oranges, and coppers for underneath, then (brighter) oranges, yellows, brasses, and golds for highlight. Often, I custom mix these tones.

Redheads will often get a deliberate ombre effect, which is rare with other hair (most often in otherworldly fur).

Redheads are a lot of work. YMMV.

Can't go past chestnut ink for a good red hair colour.

I don't think I've ever had two redheads come out the same, but my technique was always pretty consistent: white primer, mix of thinned yellow ochre, reddish brown, and brown acrylic inks until it looks right.

Definitely more work than blonds. grin

Redheads are sacred things, and worth any amount of work. I know because I married one.

But, do you change the skin tone for red-heads ?

I married one an helped raise one.

That is an awesome result.

But, do you change the skin tone for red-heads ?

For the vast majority of figures, each has multiple skin tones. At least two, usually three. I prefer to custom mix skin tones. So, yes, redheads get custom skin tones. For some figures, there is a tendency to a paler hue.

I go with orange mixed from yellow and red, and vary the amount simply by eye, then wash down with a dark brown.
Close enough for my purposes.
