Hi, I am trying to find uniform information on the Lithuanian Hussars in the Russian army in 1812, but am not finding anything online

Would anyone know what their uniforms looked liked?

That will be because you (presumably inadvertently) sent it to the Ancient Battle Reports board :~}

yes how bizarre, i was only on the nap discussion board and also – i did not write Saga Classical Indians for the heading either, so i have no idea where that came from. I dont even know what Saga Classical Indians refers to

It is called the Bug and it has happened to all of us occasionally….

GeorgBuchner02 Jan 2023 4:47 a.m. PST

ah right – well in the meantime i confirmed that in fact the reference was meant to be Uhlans not hussars, so sorry for the trouble

Adding to ColCampbell's post, Haythornthwaite's Uniforms of the Retreat from Moscow shows the Litovskis with raspberry red collar, czapka cords and fringeless epaulettes rather than white; white buttons on the tunic. He also shows them sporting a white over blue lance pennon, with a reversed double stripe down the middle – i.e. from top to bottom the pennon would go

wide white
narrow blue
narrow white
wide blue

Not sure whose information is better, but FWIW.

Easily confused though reversed here is giving Hussars lances in Russian regiments
Raspberry facings, what's not to love
