This is an interesting little article on the XF-108 Rapier, America's Mach 3 Fighter: link Astonishing is that the design dates back to 1951, when US jets weren't even really supersonic yet, excepting perhaps in rare occasions when in a dive, or experimental types, and yet they came up with a jet with ramjet technology. Here's more info from Wikipedia: link We need this, as well as the XB-70 in 1/600th scale, preferably as a metal miniature. Would love to see the Mach 3 capable XF-103 in 1/600th scale too. |
