A simple (I hope) question.

I am in the middle of a project of printing the Wurttemberg army using the excellent Piano Wargames files. The light infantry come in both marching and skirmishing poses so I can do both types. The jaegers however, only come in skirmishing. Were there no instances of employing the jaegers as anything other than skirmishers?

Thanks in advance.

The lights and the jaegers were brigaded together and were used as shock troops in the 1809 campaign.

You would use sharpshooters and crack shoots just for that resons – Jäger had rifles another reason to employ them as skrimishers.

The Fussjaegerbattalion Koenig was the unit that assaulted and captured the bridge and castle at Eckmuhl. They also made the last assault at Linz-Urfar where the attacked an Austrian line infantry battalion uphill, in the dark, with no ammunition!

They were definitely used in a formed manner.

Absolutely crack troops in 1809! I've been to Linz and Urfhar, astonishing feat of arms.
