Haven't played in a long time, so we were thinking about having a mini tournament during the Christmas holidays, however I went today to have a look at the rules to refamiliarise myself with them. To my shock and horror my eyesight has deteriorated to the point where I can hardly rea them.

Does anyone know if a larger (not necessarily large print) print version exists? The army lists are fine it is just the rule section. If not could someone more computer savvy tell me how to enlarge a scan of the rules? or what ever the best method would be.

thanks
jon

I may be misunderstanding a "scan." If you're nice to photocopiers and to printers, they can be persuaded to produce copies larger than the paper or digital originals.

Hi Jon:

I found a couple of options:
1. If you have a pdf of the rules, print it on 8.5 x 11. that will give you a copy with larger font than the paper copies.
2. really go crazy and print it on 11 x 17 at ~260% that will give you the best font size i could get playing around with the pdf.

It will look real silly when you whip that out at a game table. :)

Sue Barker's "Start Ancient Wargaming" is available in a Kindle version which can be sized to your needs. It is inexpensive.

It contains the full text of the rules, but only limited army lists.

Not trying to be funny, but have you tried reading glasses? I find I need them for most things now, but you can get them for £1.00 GBP in the UK at least. I gave up on fretting about it a while ago …

Our esteemed editor thought my CDN link violated copyright. This does not:

I do not believe that the link supplied by Mr Elmo, above is truly an authorized copy. Neither Phil nor Sue have ever made copies available on line, unless older out of print versions. I suspect this pirated version is actually an early draft of the rules that was circulated for comments.

I think the OP has a valid point. I just purchased a copy of 3.0 and the print does indeed suck!

Admittedly I was a lot younger when I used to play DBA, way back when, but the font and layout are also pretty crummy!

Oh and yes I do wear glasses, have them changed regularly too!😊

I would make a copy of my purchased edition expanded as Clark182 suggests.
