I wanted to ask if someone had a source where i could look up how the flags and banners were distributed through the organizational structure?

Like did each french company have a flag? What about the regiment or battalion? Was that flag carried by the fanion guard? Was it a different flag?

Also i always see british units with 2 flags, did the french also have 2 flags? What about austrians, russians or prussians?

I've tried to look up this information but i got nowhere.

@ eleyana

As you can see from the link there are a lot of sources so I'd suggest you need to narrow down your search. Date is also important as some armies changed the rules [which weren't always observed] during the period. Plus in established armies i.e. anyone but the French and their 'created states' like Westphalia, a unit might have a standard from some time back in history. I'm pretty sure there's a reference in Acerbi to an Austrian cavalry standard captured by the Russians in 1812 that came from the 1790's or earlier so 3-4 styles previous to the 'current issue'.
