Two of my wargaming buddies and I went to see the movie "Devotion" this afternoon. We all thought it was a well-done movie and enjoyed it.

We highly recommend it for all you aviation junkies as wel las those interested in "The Forgotten War."

I wanted to go last week, but all the good seats were sold out.

Hoping to go sometime this week, or next.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in it.

I saw the commercials and the fact that it was a movie about the first Black naval aviator. I thought oh God no I am not sitting through some woke BS, it's a hard pass.

I really haven't seen anything beyond the initial hype so that tells me I can wait for streaming…if I have time.

Never heard of it.

It's something that I'll watch when it is released on DVD.

Just in case you did not know, "Devotion" is based on a true life story written by Adam Makos. Not a bad book. Not sure how Hollywood will have changed it, if they did. Better book by Makos, is "Spearhead".

So, you refuse to watch movies about Black people?

I'd read of this incident in a book about the Chosin campaign but was not aware it was about a Black aviator. The actual event inspired a part of the movie "The Hunters" Two Air Force pilots crash land to rescue a third. It worked in the movie but in real life both men died. It is still a moving event.

" Racism is an ever-present character in this story, shown mostly through a lens of Brown's poor treatment at the hands of civilians"

Wait, is this a war movie or one about racism? Which one is the transgender nonbinary character?

I am sure racism was ever-present in the man's life during this time. Should that part of the story not be told because it makes people uncomfortable?

Wow. Anyway … moving on…

Looks a neat movie. Didn't realize it was based on a book by Adam Makos. Just read his "Spearhead" which was brilliant.

It certainly looks like it has potential.
When was the last movie made that had the Korean War as one of its themes?

I HOPE that any expression by anyone above of reticence to see this picture is not based on racial concerns, but rather comes from the legitimate hesitancy to see what might be another forced lesson in Woke-ism.

Stories about "firsts," particularly in civil rights history, can always be legitimate and, if handled fairly, encouraging tales of just how good this country has been and can be.

There should be more of them.

I have served for decades side by side with honorable soldiers of all races and both sexes. It is an honorable band of brothers and sisters who have sworn to defend our Constitution. Enough said. No room for racism when bullets are flying.

I watched the movie and I thought it was pretty well done. After the movie, I checked the actual facts and they were pretty close. There were a few "Hollywood" type non-historical scenes but overall it was enjoyable and believable.

I'll watch any movies that have Corsairs!
