On in the last year have I started to save plastic bottle caps. I use them as a palette for painting. They work great and when you're done no need for any clean up. It's amazing how many you can collect is a very short time. |

I've started using Rx bottle caps -- I collect too many, and they just get dumped in the recycling/trash. Problem is, I use them longer than I should, before I pitch them, dried paint and all. Any type of cap works really well for mixing a wash: they have rims which contain the liquids inside, as long as you do not tip them over. This is where wide Rx bottle caps have the advantage. Many of mine are 1-1/2 to 2 inches in diameter. They work really nicely for mixing acrylic paint and Pledge Floor Polish (my last bottle…). Cheers! |

I use plastic milk bottle tops to mix up paint and to decant Vallejo and MiG paints into. Also handy for ink washes. |

You can also use them as temp bases while painting. |

I use 2 coke bottle caps and glue them together, some plastic card and paint and I have scifi cargo containers. |

I also use the bottle caps to mount figures on for painting. Eric |

I use them for bases when painting, but I have to say I just started using a 'wet palette' a few weeks ago, and it is quite amazing. I don't think I shall go back to using a dry one. It wouldn't work for washes, but then I don't think I have ever used a wash in a palette. |

I"m new to 28mm figures, and have been using plastic bottle tops (milk containers, some soda containers) to hold minis. A bit of blue tape, rolled over and stuck to the cap, then stick the mini to it works pretty well. |

Don't drink milk so no joy there. I do however use old CDs (I snagged a huge amount from work when we changed formats and eliminated CDs). |

I use empty K-cups with a magnet on the bottom as a way to hold my 20mm figures that are mounted on a fender washer for holding the mini while I paint it. |

I tried using plastic milk bottle tops as holders for painting, but whenever I picked one up it flexed slightly, the glue broke and the model flew off ! Never tried a second time. |

I used beer bottle caps as paint pots for years, and despite going for the wet palette a couple of years ago, I still use them for things like metallics and inks. I use the caps of my many pill bottles to hold my minis during painting. |

I like that idea RKE Steve. |
