So, do you think this is Putin's punishment for the botched conscription and rage of the Russian public? Angry civilian lynch mob got him? Did the shame actually cause him to commit suicide?

Thresher0117 Oct 2022 1:32 p.m. PST

So, a 6th story window wasn't nearby that he could have "accidentally" fallen out of?

Russia seems to have an inordinant number of suspicious "suicides" lately.

Resentment is widespread and criticism is open.

"The Governor of Dagestan condemned a mobilisation effort in Derbent, which called on all male adults to head to the nearest enlistment office.

The video led to further outrage in the region, where large anti-mobilisation protests had already taken place in the regional capital."

Exactly what he says in the video, and how he says it, is important.

Headline = Vladimir Putin: Head of his military campaign found dead 'under mysterious circumstances'

I reported on this when it happened, two days ago. Malyk is the military commissar of the Partizansky and Lazovsky regions.

Total population? About 45,000.

This is some local official, not in charge of the entire mobilisation effort.

Damage Control, Oct 18, 2022.

Well … all things being equal when it comes to the Russians … more "suicides", accidents, etc. may happen.

Oh, I'm sure there are many fatalities from "accidentally" falling out of basement windows, too… ;-)

Well, the sixth floor + will give you a bigger bounce …

Who needs a window?

He was just unlucky.
Tripped.
The hammer just happened to be there on the pavement where he fell.

Sounds reasonable to me …

This is some local official, not in charge of the entire mobilisation effort.

It would have been a bit odd for a lowly colonel to be in charge of the entire countrywide mobilisation.

Russian military may have lost a good number of generals in Ukraine, but they should have still enough left to organise the paperwork in the national headquarters.

As for looking for culprits, there is always the defense minister Sergei Shoigu, who is still in office after almost eight months of the spezial military fiasco. Presumably, he is still rather useful to have as a scapegoat to blame for all sorts of problems (regardless of whether he actually has any practical powers left anymore or not).

Choctaw20 Oct 2022 8:29 a.m. PST

Sergei Shoigu seems destined for a high flying "splat" from the sixth floor as well.

Griefbringer20 Oct 2022 9:51 a.m. PST

Moscow inhabitants (the ones who have not yet fled abroad) might want to avoid walking close to certain high buildings – it is probably not a pleasant experience to be hit by a general officer falling from a sixth office window.

Dragon Gunner20 Oct 2022 10:53 a.m. PST

Is Sergei Shoigu a close friend of Putin's? Could that explain why he is still alive and still retains his title?

Griefbringer20 Oct 2022 2:29 p.m. PST

I do not know how Shoigu got his post in the first place, but presumably it is not due to his (rather negligible) military experience.
