I ran a 28mm Regimental Fire and Fury game at the Recruits convention in Kansas City back on Sept. 24th. I was waiting to post anything as I was so busy setting up the game and then running it I forgot to take any pictures. There was somebody at the convention taking pictures but I have not been able to get a response yet and nothing has been posted at their website or Facebook page. Anyway, for anyone wondering about Regimental Fire and Fury- I had 12 players and each person commanded one brigade of 4 to 5 regiments with a few brigades having artillery. The Colonists were defending and the British were attacking. The Brits were slightly outnumbered and had a mixture of Regulars, Provincials, and Germans (Hesse and Brunswick brigades). Overall troop quality was better for the Brits given about 1/3rd of the Americans were militia. The game lasted just under 3 hours with the British ultimately driving the Americans from the field. It was a really well fought game. Had 30 American regiments and 27 British regiments on the table. Table was 12x7 and used almost all of it. I was really happy with the rules and how the game turned out. I can highly recommend Regimental Fire and Fury to anyone who is considering playing it. I did have a couple of individuals help me run the game, to assist the players who had never played before and they were a lot of help. I debated on whether to run a game that big but decided I'd simply go for it- go big or go home, right? Anyway, not really posting to debate rules, simply mentioning a 12 player Regimental Fire and Fury game that played extremely well. |

Sounds like a great time! May I ask: (1) What base width do you use, how many troops does each base represent, and how do you represent open order? (2) In a related question, what ground scale do you use? The same 1":25 yards as standard RF&F, or altered? (3) Do you use standard RF&F fire factors for the various weapons? How do you represent 3-pounder guns, roundball rifles, etc? (4) And how do you rate typical troop types? Any special rules for regular troops (British, Hessian, French), as opposed to ACW volunteer troops? |

My 2 cents. I liked the game, thought it went well. It was good you had helpers because the variants are different enough that even players familiar with RF&F would have questions |

Eumelus: Take a look at the Fire and Fury website---a lot of info on the AWI variant: link |

Thanks Stossstuppen appreciate your kind words, where you in attendance, did you play? Eumelus- 1- I use 2X2 bases, 6 figures to a base. Bases would represent about 125 bayonets, about because I give each regiment a "combat effectiveness" amount at the start of the game. A standard full strength regiment has 10 CE. Each loss they take reduces the unit by one CE. I do this instead of removing stands. The main reason I did this was I did not want to rebase my entire collection- I have about 55 or so regiments per side. I was representing open order on 1x1 stands but found that open order was never really used in my games or wasn't used properly. Also found I had very little open order- and found most my games were after open order would have formed into line anyway so I remounted my open order to close order. AWI didn't use skirmishers really in the skirmish fashion like other periods, unless it was a true skirmish battle. 2- I didn't change the scale. I am using the RF&F 25MM AWI variant and reference guides- at least ranges and info from the guides. 3- I am using the standard AWI variant for RF&F (found on their website). It makes changes for the AWI artillery. It has charts for the smaller guns. In my games a stand only represents one or two guns, not a battery. 4- The ratings are all included in the variant. I made a few changes but not many. All the morale numbers, ratings, when a unit drops to worn and spent, its all there. |

I've used Regimental Fire and Fury many times for AWI battles and they work well for me – as noted above – the variant and several scenarios can be download from their website Note I did help with the Cowpens scenario posted there |
