"The legendary TableTop set of rules "The Sword and the Flame" is probably the classic when it comes to the subject of colonial times. The famous wargame designer Lawrence V. Brom, better known as Larry Brom, designed the rules back in 1978. "The Sword and the Flame" was intended to combine gameplay with playability, drama and plenty of historical flair. So it's not about tournament rules, like for example the later very popular DBA, but about a club game, which is meant more for entertainment than with an absolute will to win…"

Four other rule sets that I can think of come close longevity wise, or, in the case of Harpoon, exceed: Johnny Reb, On To Richmond, Desperado, Harpoon.- |
