I grew up in the Milwaukee area, but left in the '80s for college and never went back. I had my first exposure to miniatures gaming at Napoleon's, the gaming store first located on the upper east side of Milwaukee and later in Shorewood (though for some reason it didn't take – I didn't fall into this hobby rabbit hole until the 1990s). I lost track of the store, but I remember the community that met there, the big miniatures games in the basement, the racks of miniatures for sale, the campaign games playing out on the walls of the store, etc. It wasn't the Emperor's HQ, but it was definitely something special.

I was listening to the most recent LWTV podcast with Cyrano (Jim K) of the Armchair Dragoons, and was dismayed to hear him say he can't play miniatures games in person anymore, because of a lack of opponents. He still lives in the Milwaukee area. Is there really so little miniatures gaming left in the area?

Navcon was held in Milwaukee until 2016. The twin cities in MN seem to have quite a bit going on. Chicago seems to have a lot of gaming around, though apparently spread widely across the metro area (like California). The SYW con still takes place in IN every year, and an awful lot of the attendees at the SYW con seem to be from Michigan… The upper Midwest isn't a completely dead zone.

I live in Milwaukee. I have had a active group for some time but it is getting harder and harder to find people. I have not heard of any clubs or groups in the area.

I used to live in Milwaukee and went to Napoleon's all the time. Today I live in Madison and there are a ton of game stores. Most people play board games or Fantasy and sci-if mini games rather than historical. Still, the HMGS Midwest holds events in Wisconsin all the time and Little Wars and Adepticon are nearby in Chicago with mini events at GameholeCon, Nexus and Garycon each year.

I have plenty of RPG and Boardgame buddies, but no regular miniatures club or group, unfortunately. If anyone is a minis gamer nearby, hit me up.

I'm just NW of Milwaukee and play but it's mostly houses not game stores. I know some of the tourney stuff (FoW, GW, etc) shows up at stores. A bunch of us are going to start some weekday gaming at a store in Mequon, not sure how holidays will fuddle that up.

There is a group called SWAGS (Southern Wisconsin Area Gamers) that is active on Facebook. It is run by Badger Games. There are miniature events posted there.

Tgerritsen! We exchanged PMs here a couple of years ago! I am now living in Madison and looking to get a new gaming circle together! I have been unable to respond to your last PM message because there's some snafu in my reactivated membership and I'm not being allowed to use the PM system despite renewing my Supporting Membership. Glad to see your response here -- I am about to post a new topic looking for like-minded historical gamers in the Madison/Dane Co. area. Milwaukee's a bit of a stretch but some folks don't mind driving an hour to play games. I used to need an hour to drive across Austin!

We have only a few months ago moved into a house again and I'm in process of setting up my game table for boardgames, miniatures, even RPGs if need be. I've put on games at the last two Gamehole conventions and an prepping for a big Alamo game for GaryCon in March (Lake Geneva).

I've written to Editor Bill and Editor Gwen to sort out my membership renewal. I can be reached apart from TMP at khendryx909 AT gmail DOT com. Let's get something going over the winter!
