Got the Prussian mobile forge but searching have no idea how it is used. See many, French mostly, with a bellow attached so assume the what looks like a iron plate is were charcoal is fired. The Prussian has no bellow but model seems to have front of iron as well so is that where charcoal is fired up?
It also has a box under, storage? Oven?
Sadly what was common understanding then could get lost in time.

Yes, definitely clues, the box is the fireplace not on top. That implies it's iron in front.
