I decided to pick a unit of the first amalgamation to show both white and blue uniforms, beware not all units were amalgamated in 1794 – and I did not check but chose the paper colours according to their design and bought some redundant ones.

The miniatures are Sho Boki (with the exception of the AB horse) – from his new French Revolutionary infantry both in helmets and hats, there he alas sculpted them with breeches and gaiters, I had to sculpt on some of them long trousers using GS, to add more variation I also used some of his "Savages Bleues" – including the command, there for the new series the command miniatures are still not out. For the next unit I may use 5 or 6 miniatures in white coats instead of 4, the goal is to create a demi brigade of three battalions. The painting was done in my conventional technique but also using Contrast colours to speed up painting

The Contrast painting on the horse is superb. But what about the spiral tricolor on the flag staff? I have seen von W do that before, but how he does it escapes me!
