Patches. Unless you are in the Marines, you're probably wearing some on your uniform or have them plastered across your kit right now. And with so many units, so many patches, there is plenty of room for creativity, interesting patterns, and the chance to get downright weird…

As a U.S Marine we always considered patches as being a part of the cub scout, boy scout, girl scout and Brownie uniforms.

You Marines are sooooo cute. :-)

Other branches need patches to show everyone how special they are. Marines only need the cute little Eagle, Globe & Anchor.

When given crayons and asked to design patches, Marines always ate the crayons.

Those Americans do just love a badge

We always thought the USMC badge was a seagull with an anchor shoved up its ass yelling "Go Navy!"

But once you get more than a couple of miles from the beach, it helps to figure out who's who in the zoo…

Eric,

Well bless your heart. I understand the long naval tradition and fascination of bugery (if I spelled it right it gets deleted) but with a species other than human? That's against the Code of Conduct isn't it?

However, if you reexamine the Eagle, Globe and Anchor design you'll see the anchor is clearly visible and not shoved up his ass as your anal fixation might imagine. So where did the Eagle get the anchor? Well obviously it was not issued to him so he stole it from the Navy, a popular past time for Marines.

For a better explanation see below:

I have no axe to grind with the Navy. In WWII my Dad was a Naval Aviator and my Mom in the reserves. I had relatives in the Union Navy (USS Oneida) and many cousins in the Navy too. One cousin is in the German Navy. My son and I are the Black Sheep of the family.

I was on a Med Cruise on an LPH and it was like a combination of Uber, Bed & Breakfast and tour guide with helicopter sight seeing. The chow was good and all you can eat but I forgot to leave a tip. Thank you for your service. Go Navy!
