…The Kharkiv offensive may have triggered desertions behind the front lines. Ukraine says Russian servicemen fled Svatove, 40km (25 miles) east of the Oskil river, leaving only local Luhansk militiamen to defend it.In the southern Kherson region, satellite images showed all except four vehicles absent at the Russian base in Kyselivka, suggesting that the Donetsk People's Republic unit that manned it may have fled. And reports surfaced that Russian troops were abandoning Melitopol in the heart of Russian-occupied Zaporizhia region, and retreating to Crimea… Aljazeera: link |

The Russians have a pretty good record of rebounding from routes and retreats, but they have traditionally been the invaded instead of the other way around. I am sure the "defend mother Russia" slogans aren't getting much traction. |

Rumors, fear and terror have gripped the Russian army by now. I doubt the Russian high command shares bad news or any news with its lower ranks in particular the enlisted. The news they are getting is probably from panicked men in trucks with injured driving past them to the rear with tales of the unstoppable Ukrainian army. |

WORDS should be treated with caution… especially if Translated… or from Propagandist source… or The Press! 'FLED' could mean several very different things in actuality. The impact of fleeing / retreating troops can be dramatic "Waterloo was Lost"… said those fleeing to Brussels! And away went the nobs. (Yes… not yet named so at the time!) lol It does seem like Russians are very much on the back foot at the moment… hope that will continue! |

Morale is low in the Russian army. How much lower does it have to go before the soldiers simply say, "screw this" and head for home. |

The more that desert the better for the Ukraine, obviously. But this sort of thing is a very bad sign of the Russian military's continuing incompetence … |
