The mix of equipment is interesting. If the assault around Kharkov really was a surprise to the Russians it represents a complete intelligence failure which seems impossible in the modern world. |

Again, seems the Russian military has been nothing but a failure, save for committing war crimes. |

"The mix of equipment is interesting. If the assault around Kharkov really was a surprise to the Russians it represents a complete intelligence failure which seems impossible in the modern world." Well in fairness the western Intelligence did not see the war going this way at all and obviously neither did the Chinese or Israelis. |

I bet the Russian commander had satellite footage and could see Ukraine's Kharkov front unfolding in front of them. The Russians are so spent all they could do is stand there and watch in horror like a barely conscious battered boxer about to receive a knockout blow. |

like a barely conscious battered boxer about to receive a knockout blow. Sounds about right … But looks like no one is ringing the bell or throwing the towel.

Mark Hertling categorises the 2 attacks : "For those geeking out on military terminology: 1. Ukraine's operation in Kharkiv is a "terrain-oriented attack." The force orients on key terrain objectives needed for future missions. 2. The operation in Kherson is a "force-oriented attack." The focus is on the enemy force." … Task & Purpose does not point out that the 'Humvee assault' was part of the Kherson attack. … The build up in Kharkiv had also been reported on telegram channels, but an authoritarian personality can find reasons not to believe intelligence reports – feint, inflatable tanks, intelligence error. e.g. The landing will be at Pas-de-Calais so the Normandy landing must be a diversion, there can't be any SS Pz near Arnhem as this is not part of the plan. … He says the capture of the Izium rail line will allow transport all the way from Kiev to near the Donbas, but there is already a line from Kiev to Sloviansk via Poltava, the line through Izium comes via Kharkiv and goes to Lyman – still Russian held(?). Task & Purpose does not point out that the 'Humvee assault' was part of the Kherson attack. Do we know actually why this HMMWV assault occurred ? Was it planned or the immediate situation require it, based on the situation & terrain ? |
