A barracks on post will forever be named for the late U.S. Sen. Robert J. Dole, an original member of the 10th Mountain Division during World War II… Military: link |

My best friend's father was in the 10th Mountain! I just finished a rousing history of its campaign to the river Po crossing from Jan to May '45. There were pictures taken then and now (well, 2005). Fascinating. |

Last week, I visited Camp Hale, Colorado, where the 10th trained during WWII. Not much left there to see. At Tennessee Pass, a few miles to the south, there is a monument to the division. They also mention that at least some rangers and the OSS Norway group trained at Camp Hale. Grelber |

Yes, very well deserved ! The 10th MTN is the most deployed units in the US ARMY currently. |

I have mixed feelings on this as there were others in the 10th, or had served at Pine Camp/Fort Drum, who did a lot more in combat than Dole. (Not to run down Dole's actions). But, like the reactivation of the 10th, everything is political. |

Well his name in on barracks, not the Fort. I'd think there are other locations that can be named after other 10th MTN troops too at Drum. |
