"Rules for Minor Xenos Armies--Where were they?" Topic

Somewhere, somewhen, one of the (probably Imperial Armour) books had bit on generating armies for minor Xenos races. It was essentially "Use this list [Imperial Guard? Chaos Renegade trash?] and then pick or roll two special characteristics."

Can anyone tell me where to find this?

I think 3 rd Edition Imperial Guard had something like that, but not for new races.

Of course you can always make stuff up!

I do think Heresy needs rules for Eldar, Orks, and some kind of "design your own xenos " system. Like that won't get min-maxed.

That's more Great Crusade but features in the novels.

It was something like a few little table that may have had been for other purposes, but had a note like, "You can also use these to generate minor Xenos races." It was things like +1 strength, or powered armor available, or high-tech weapons.

Driving me nuts.

There was a White Dwarf article on Zeno's creatures on death worlds. Maybe mid 2000s

It may have been the rules for specialising a guard army for militia/chaos… it's what a lot of people used for Squats because you could add toughness etc…

The army list was in book 5 of the Horus Heresy "Imperialis militia and cults army list", starting on page 176.

There was no mention of xenos in my quick read through but it could certainly be used for creating minor xenos armies.
