Being a 'Miniatures enthusiast" of ALL things small I have quite a collection of Ertl farm equipment, and the last 10 years or so I have found a source for various Die-Cast Firetrucks from various time periods --Approx 15mm scale ----- except for the "SCALE PARANOID PEOPLE."
I often think about sourcing the firetrucks to see if I could get them in some numbers, have the OG design team make the appropriate figures, buildings etc. and get some rules written for this?
The "farm game" is a tougher nut to crack and have no thoughts as to how to translate that into a game?
Any thoughts?
Does this spark an interest at all for something a little different?

Best Regards

I think a firefighting game could be fun. You can make it as complicated as you want with trucks, tankers, quints, hydrants, various building sizes, random event cards for a hydrant out of service, low water pressure, budget cuts:take a piece of apparatus out of service, political appointee battalion chief hampering firefighting operations, etc.

I agree – quite a few training pieces that could be converted to support the rules –

79thPA started a nice list – I would add refresh, HazMat, Hot Spots, Building integrity etc

For a "large event" could use Police, EMTs etc

Lots of tactical decisions

Of if wanting more of a conflagration – more strategic decisons

It would certainly make an interesting solo game, or even a team game with all players on the same side.

Farmers vs Zombies?

Jim Wallman wrote a game about firefighting in the London Blitz. You can download it at:

We have a few games where firefighting is required. Some even by firefighters.

If you want a source for figures in the 15mm, not-for-scale-paranoid-people range, try HO model train figures.

For farmers, steal from Tremors. Think Burt Gummer chasing down graboids with a combine… wink

I can't believe I forgot to put in a shout out for my farmers …

There is certainly no shortage of farming games in the video space; maybe pick up a copy of "Stardew Valley" and adapt? I believe one of the main draws with these is the characters, so that plays to your strengths!

More farmers: Corn mazes (the Forth family seems to get lost in them a lot… ;-)

I know call it fields of fire, the game of arsonist farmers burning down the competitions crops and the timely intervention of friendly firefighters. If you want Sci-Fi call it Mutant Maize and have genetically modified corn turn into Triffid type creatures upon full growth and shoot popcorn kernels to implant their victims with the next crop, everyone can yell the popcorn apocalypse is here!

There was also a board game along the firefighting line:

Never played it, just thought it was an interesting concept.

You could do a pretty good "resource allocation" farm game--solo, with random weather, seed price and crop price variations--but I'm not sure what additional value you'd get from using miniatures. Makes more sense as a card or computer game.

Farmers and farm equipment could be used in any number of skirmish games--terrorism/guerilla warfare/anti-colonialist struggle, Government vs illicit crops, feuds, and farmers vs cattlemen come immediately to mind.

Fighting wildfires would also make an interesting game, probably a board game, maybe something like Pandemic.

Don't forget the protesting Dutch farmers that were in the news a while ago… ;-)

Good point, Zephyr! Throw them and their equipment into a "civil disorder" game of some sort, and you're good. Works for trucks and truckers, too. And if the game goes "well" you can bring in the firetrucks and firemen.
