Hi there, I am looking for a very old rule dating from before 1975 (because I only like the old rules) which would allow the use of figurines and models at 1/144th scale and whose game scale would be the "squad" for the infantry and the vehicle, howitzer, cannon or individual collective weapon for the rest. Thank you for your help. Paskal |

Angriff by Z&M and Tactics by TSR I used both sets back in 72 or 73. |

Z&M also did Banzai for the Pacific, but those came out in 1976 so just missed your cutoff. |

Z&M also publish a modern version of Angriff/Banzai in the early 80s, however, I don't remember the title. I have a copy at home I will add the title later. |

If you really like old rules, Might I suggest: "War Games Rules: Armour and Infantry, 1925-50" by War Games Research Group. I was definitely playing this in 1975, it is simple and straight forward rules for larger actions. I found "Tractics Rules For WW2 Miniatures" (Note spelling, if you plan to search) to be too fiddly. It is designed for very few tanks. You need to measure the angle on incidence of an in coming round to determine armor penetration. I never gave Angriff a fair chance. I recall it was platoons of Inf and used D6 in a very odd way to simulate percentile type results. |

How about Battle Practical Wargaming by Charles Grant Definitely for 1/144th and 'old school' |

Angriff was my first WWII set. I think it was one of the first commercial sets available. I got Banzai as well. Still have them. Thanks John |

This video lists squad scale rules by year. youtu.be/K8puyPOefo0 Wargamers Digest also printed a set of rules for 1/72 scale. The rules themselves were not complete, but you can see the original rules printed in the magazine and a possible completed version of the rules in the files section of the link site |

Hi there , Thank you all, for now I only have "Fast Rules" by Mike Reese & Leon Tucker, but it's 1 for 1. Also I am only looking for a very old rule dating from before 1975 (because I only like the old rules) which would allow the use of figurines and models at 1/144th scale and whose game scale would be the "squad" (this is the most important)for the infantry and 1 for 1 scale for the vehicles, howitzers, cannons, individual collective weapons and the rest. Thank you for your help. Paskal |

Paskal, you can find a copy of WRG's Armour & Infantry 1925-1950 rules here - PDF link The hosting free-rules page - link Locally, we've begun dusting off these classic rules, and have started to play with them again – a recent post here about our first "Dustup" – (we'll be using single squad stands instead of the recommended 4-man fireteam bases – but plan on everything else be played "stock"). Follow Me by Peter Rice circa 1975 was single man and vehicle stands but for infantry you could command a squad. Highly detailed with 6 second turns "wowzah These rules later morphed into Behind Enemy Lines 2nd originally from Fasa games. |

This looks like the right place to ask a question concerning WRGs 1925-1950 rules. In my copy in the table for testing the effects of a hit on an A.F.V. in the row for the Russian 152mm/L29 the scores to KO are 5 for armour class A, 4 for class B, 4 at 1000+m for class C and again 4 without any range qualifier for class D. This would make it easier to KO class C below 1000m than class D. Can this be true or is there a mistake? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
