Red over white. And not wrapped round the (very dark brown or black?) pole, but fastened on one side? With a pale/white binding and grip mid-shaft. I have literally just painted some of the 5th Regiment. |

It depends on the scale you are working and your degree of obessionalism. But the above image by Prince of Essling does show how this worked. The pennant was attached to the staff via three studs, on the rider's side, i.e. the left or proximal side. It was not a wrap around, like a standard was. That means the other, outer side, did not show the white edge. The wood is described as very blackened The dimensions I did get sadly wrong today, working on Rousellot's data, but then realised it was my mistake, not his. So I cursed and will post tomorrow |

By the way, the lead foil off wine bottles makes lovely lance pennons. The drawback is you have to think of a use for the wine. |
