Early in 2022 I was thinking about taking my dog on holiday in Scotland this year to explore different parts of the country and wanted to see if I could incorporate any wargaming into our travels.
I made a post to that effect on the Wargaming in Scotland Facebook group and got some offers.
So far we have been down to Morebattle, just on the Scottish side of the border, for a 3 battles of HOTT. That was followed up with a visit to Tain on the North East coast which included a game of Bolt Action.
More locally (I live in Falkirk) a friend in Fife had us over for a game of 7TV Fantasy and a couple of other local games are planned.
I then saw a request on the Wargamer Opponents Wanted Facebook group which intrigued me. It was for an Arab Revolt game using Bolt Action again. The only problem was that it was down in Sussex! Having pondered a while I decided to go for it, rented a cottage for a week, and down we went and had a great game of the outbreak of the revolt in Mecca in 1916.
My dog, Beau, is used to me gaming and settles down pretty quickly. He just needs a short walk every couple of hours.
I have a couple of other relatively local gaming sessions organised but have decided to continue with a broader remit than just Scotland, although Scotland is still good of course.
So I am looking at anywhere in Britain or Ireland where someone is willing to host myself and Beau for a game.
I don't mind brining a couple of boxes of figures but not large armies any distance.
I will play any miniatures game of 6mm up, historic or SFF, land sea air or space, you will just need to be patient if I am unfamiliar with the rules
One last thing – I am one of the authors of Test of Resolve Wars of the Roses so if that is a set of rules that you are thinking of getting into is your opportunity

South Somerset, "Tales from the Wargames Shed" on Facebook, as long as Beau is ok with chickens!

I envy you – my dog, an 18 month old springer spaniel is a bit of a barrier to my gaming at the moment. She is a typical springer and is averse to settling down in unfamiliar environments🙁.

What sort of dog is Beau?

Beau was born at the Dogs Trust in Darlington and they described him as a Terrier X. His face is that of a Patterdale Terrier but he is more the size of a lab.
He is 8 now and still in good shape. He does like attention but settles down after a few minutes and really is no bother at all.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a breed of cat which doesn't feel compelled to knock figures off a table--or which will not scratch at a closed door?
