We have over 100 games of all types, rules, periods, and genres on the PEL and more are incoming! Check out the convention link below for more data.

The annual awesome HMGS-South convention HurriCon-2022 is fast approaching! The theme is Persia, though there will be every manor of games. As usual our crew will have one table just dedicated to Colonial games played with THE SWORD AND THE FLAME rules with a different Colonial game every session of the convention starting Thursday night running through Saturday night for a total of 7 sessions / games. One of these games will be played with TMWWBK rules run by Last Stand Dan. More on that later and on my blog.

I will update with the schedules of the colonial games ASAP.

May miss this one, due to recent surgery. I see a game which was scheduled for Sat at 2pm but has been cancelled:

"English Civil War played with 6mm figures, using a modified Altar of Freedom rules." The host is/was "Raymond".

Does anyone know him or how to reach him? I've been wanting to use AoF rules in earlier periods from the TYW to SYW and would love to see what he's done and/or compare notes.

Thanks!

The Seekrieg Admiralty will be running AOTF and SK5 games at HURRICON. Looking forward to another great con!

ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET GAMES:

Friday 0900-1300
Naval Battle of Tunis 1901
Italian aspirations in regard to Tripoli were generally recognized by the great powers but tensions between the two countries eventually led to armed conflict on North Africa when Italy began a blockade of Tunis. Italian battleships and cruisers engage their French counterparts in this hypothetical.

Friday 1400-1800
Battles of Coronel & Falkland Islands 1914
Two battles in one session using ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET rules and 1:1800 scale ship models. A slightly modified version of the first two naval battles of WW1 where British battlecruisers and cruisers sought to destroy Graf von Spee's East Asia Squadron off South America late in 1914. 8 players.

Saturday 0900-1300
LEYTE GULF 1944 – Kurita vs Lee
Admiral Halsey orders the formation of TF 34 under Admiral Lee to cover the San Bernardino Strait and block the Japanese force from attacking the landing forces at Letye Gulf. An all-out brawl between battleships and cruisers using ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET Rules.

SEEKRIEG 5 GAMES:

Friday 0900-1300
North Cape Revisited: Can the Up-gunned Scharnhorst Prevail?
December 26, 1943: After conversion to 15" guns, Scharnhorst and her escorts move to attack Convoy JW 55B as units of the British Home Fleet move to intercept. Familiarity with Seekrieg 5 rules preferred.

Friday 1400-1800
Red Star/White Star: Showdown in the Black Sea
During the Revolution, heavy units of the Red and White Russian navies clash in a bitter struggle to the death for control of the Black Sea. Familiarity with Seekrieg 5 rules preferred.

Saturday 0900-1300
Jutland 1906: The Scouts Collide
World War I begins early and the struggle for control of the North Sea leads to a naval battle to decide the matter before more Dreadnought-type ships can be completed. Armored cruisers clash at Jutland. Familiarity with Seekrieg 5 rules preferred.

Dave:

Both are great choices and I look forward to meeting you.

I forgot to mention that all the AOTF events come with freebies for the participants (patch, pen, sticker and a bag of traditional AOTF custom M&Ms). Oh, and there's also the beer I owe you…

CPBelt23 Aug 2022 3:59 a.m. PST

I was signed up for Ray's 6mm ECW game and was really looking forward to it. Bummed it was canceled. I hope he's okay.

As of this afternoon, all ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET games are sold out.

Looking forward to seeing all the players at HURRICON!

Not surprising on Admiral of the Fleet. Not especially a naval gamer but after my first game of AOTF at Recon just had to sign up for another go at Hurricon. Besides, who could resist Leyte Gulf!

My only problem with Hurricon is, as usual, TOO many good choices.

SgtGuinness14 Sep 2022 6:00 p.m. PST

I've been hearing awesome things about Admiral Of The Fleet! I can't wait to try these rules. It's gonna be a great con, hope to see y'all soon.

Admiral Rich17 Sep 2022 9:34 a.m. PST

You are so right about there being too many good choices at the HMGS-South conventions, Marc. It's the product of a committed membership engaging in friendly competition to run the best game.

I'm upping the stakes for RECON 2023 with an updated 'THE WIND AND THE LION AND THE GREAT WHITE FLEET' (Moroccan Crisis of 1904) AOTF scenario. This time it's the American & French vs. Italian & German squadrons.

But don't tell anyone…

Clays Russians21 Sep 2022 10:15 a.m. PST

I may be going literally at the last minute, can you still get ticket at the door? Finding it's hard to navigate the Mumbo Jumbo ‘ticket data portal purchase management thingy whatcgamacallit'

SgtGuinness21 Sep 2022 12:38 p.m. PST

It's getting close! Can't wait!!!

SgtGuinness21 Sep 2022 12:42 p.m. PST

@Clays Russians, YES! You most assuredly can get tickets at the door!
