I have been using blogger for a number of years, and it is OK. It has a few foibles I dislike but I at least know how to manage them. A friend said he dropped all his blogger and google related stuff due to security concerns. He recommended Wordpress, but indicated it may be a bit more technical than blogger. He's a graphic designer. So, I'm just wondering what people think is about the two different platforms. Nothing is perfect, but is it worth it to learn a new system and go with Wordpress?? Thanks for your thoughts. Stalkey |

I suspect that if your blog is monetized you will do better on Wordpress. I have had over a million hits in 10 years on Blogger and earned almost nothing. I think Wordpress does require more computer skills, but I doubt it's all that hard if you want to take the time. From a technical standpoint I have never had an issue with Blogger it's up 24/7/365 without a hitch. Don't know about Wordpress. Good luck. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

I use Wordpress they have different levels of package from free for just blogging up to packages clearly designed for businesses. I wouldn't say it's any harder to use than blogger. |

A few of my pals use WordPress and from a UX perspective it is wildly inconsistent in how it handles user comments. From a professional perspective, managing WordPress installations was one of our hugest security nightmares, although if you are using the hosted service, I would hope it is kept patched and up to date. Blogger works just fine as it is, despite the usual annoying rollout of 'new features' which just screw up your existing work flows. |

So far no temptation to switch… also, no temptation to attempt to earn money with blogger! Which I doubted would be much anyway. |

I run two blogs on Wordpress (GolfBlogger.Com and Miniaturewargaming.com) . It is an excellent platform. As with anything, there will be a learning curve. I have tried other platforms, but Wordpress is currently the best mix of ease of use and flexibility. |

When you talk about ease of use and features for a blog, are we talking about just text plus pictures? I have been thinking of starting a blog, and wanted something simple that could handle text and photos/images easily, but didn't care about anything else. (But, what other things are there to worry about when it comes to a blog?) |
