Footage shows a Russian soldier abandoning his tank after being shelled by Ukrainian forces. The Sun on Youtube: youtu.be/c7KZbw7b7gY |

How come only the driver got out? |

The other crew were incapacitated/dead? It's not a video game. |

I assume only the driver can escape through the driver's hatch? |

The other two, gunner and commander, are in the turret. The main gun ammunition is under the turret basket. Not a good place to be. To |

Curious? What happens to 'Reactive' armour when a tank burns? Think Russian showed sense… getting as far away as fast as possible! |

Curious? What happens to 'Reactive' armour when a tank burns? If Davyd Davidov and Operator Starsky on YouTube are correct, much Russian 'Reactive Armour' is actually filled with rubber strips! What are they expecting? – shells will bounce off?!!! |

Looking at the smoke billowing out of the turret, I suspect that the Gunner and Commander were past jumping out and running away! Tally Ho! |

If the TC and Gunner don't get out thru their respective hatches, they aren't going to get out because they are already dead or in a bad way. |

From what I understand reactive armor is hard to detonate unless subjected to a rather narrow window of triggering forces. I assume that, like C4, it will burn if ignited, but won't deflagrate. |

Re the other crew, there is a fleeting image in the 55-58 second interval, at the rear of the vehicle… How do they put it… Viewers may find some images disturbing. Ooof! |

Bill, on some types of tanks, if the turret is rotated to specific points, crewmen can move between the turret and the driver's station. |

All these films of a single tank driving down roads being knocked out by the Ukrainians makes me question the authenticity? seems a little too easy to me. a column of tanks and vehicles – yes, but one tank in the middle of nowhere?? |

Smoke pouring out of the commander's and gunner's hatches. Probably dead or knocked out. I'm impressed at how long it ran after taking that hit. It appears to be a missile rather than artillery that took it out. |

…but one tank in the middle of nowhere?? Either (a) all the other tanks are knocked out, which explains why he's running, or (b) tanks are being employed in onesies by the Russians. |
HMS Exeter | 13 Aug 2022 7:32 p.m. PST |
Maybe if they're running alone they hope arty won't want to bother. |
Robert Johnson | 14 Aug 2022 4:31 a.m. PST |
@torokchar One crew member getting out of a burning tank and legging it while another rolls off the engine decking on fire seems authentic to me. |

As some noted, the driver may be a survivor, but the rest of the crew is dead or dying and can't get out. Yes … not a video game. …but one tank in the middle of nowhere?? As mentioned the rest of the unit may be KO'd, withdrew, or in another location near-by but not in the video. Plus yes that may be the only tank available to support or go in the attack, etc., in that unit. As we know the Russians have taken very high losses in AFVs and troops. And they have demonstrated an incompetence in even the most basic tactics. |
