"Wagner Mercenaries on Battlefield" Topic

Ukrainian soldiers say they found bodies on the battlefield with uniforms bearing Grim Reaper patches near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region and a slogan that is a calling card for the Vagner Group, a Russian-allied mercenary paramilitary organization.

As this is being presented from the Ukrainian POV, it's hard to make definitive assessments on how effective Wagner mercs are. I suspect the quality varies and probably getting worse. Operating in small groups seems about right.

The part about not being able to get a vehicle to pick them up was funny.

As I said on another thread here. From what I understand, they started out with a lot of elite, veteran troops, etc. But their ranks now have many less of those and more of just "volunteers" off the streets, etc.

The Wagner Group mercenaries in all but name, because apparently they don't exist rather sum up the weird and very screwed up side of modern Russia were the boundaries of private enterprise and state and occasionally gangsterism are blurred beyond recognition.
