Something i have always wondered about was the fact that a lot of french infantry models wear greatcoats, especially 1812-1815. The French were issued with greatcoats, after the invasion of russia sometimes only these. But except for them i couldnt find any other 28mm napoleonic infantry models wearing them. I know that the French and russians received greatcoats, but what about the other nations? I presume armies based on the French one also used greatcoats? (like Duchy pf Warsaw, Westphalia or Saxony) Do you know any manufacturers who produce allies in greatcoats?
Thanks!

Ummmmm… I'm assuming the "hat" would be covered also, so wouldn't they look exactly the same no mater which nation they were from?

IF they received greatcoats. French in greatcoats cant be used to make troops of the smaller German states, Saxon/westphalian/most states equipped their fusiliers with short swords.

There was a thread some time ago concerning French Infantry being modelled in greatcoats more frequently than that of other nations, including a contention that this choice was made, in part, because the uniform is more exacting to paint properly (including piping, in particular). You can certainly get figures in greatcoats for other armies, and at the smallest sizes figures are virtually indistinguishable, unless you can recognise a Kiwer, or, I suppose, a Mitre cap.

Prussians seem to issue to every at least regular and reserve soldier, they wear it around their chest

the hat was covered? apart from being different shaped "hats", and the greatcoat being fashioned in different forms and in some cases different colours, yes apart from being different they are the same in 3mm

Wouldn't practically anyone in a greatcoat and shako be "the same in 3mm"?

Cheers,
John

What 28mm ranges with British in greatcoat are available?
