This is the first of several posts that aim to give you perspectives on some of the law applicable to the airstrike that killed Ayman al-Zawahiri… Lawfire: link |

The lawyers, academic, intellectuals, etc., can go after Terrorists if they don't like how we killed UBL, Solimini, etc., and AZH. Terrorists and enemy leadership are legit targets. "The only good terrorists are dead terrorists." … What is so hard for some to understand ? This is the real world not a classroom. The article generally backs this up. |

Yes, I was worried that it would not. We know who these guys are and what they did, what they could do again. That's the basis for the strikes, all we need. |

Any and ALL tactics and methods should be on the table to kill bloodthirsty terrorists. I will sleep well in the knowledge that he is hopefully dead now, but won't be surprised to hear that once again we may not have eliminated the man. Too many times we've heard so and so is dead, only for him to be miraculously resurrected at some later date. That's why getting up close and personal to the point where you can collect DNA on the spot for absolute confirmation is best. I hope we also take action(s) against those helping hide and protect him, since they are NOT our friends either, and we should also be going after the ex-Gitmo terrorists back on the job after their release. They NEVER should have been let go, but should have been given military trials and summarily executed for their crimes immediately thereafter. My understanding is many are alive and well, running Afghanistan now, and no doubt plotting further attacks against us and other Western nations and innocent civilians. |

There are thousands and thousands of them. Not easy to get for many reasons. There are difficult covert targets. We lack human intel and we don't blend into the culture very well. Language, customs, appearance, access, etc. I support military trials, but there will be escalation and retaliation. Fanaticism is tough to resolve. |

Inch High +1 Orwell IIRC … Bottom line … we just need to kill as many as we can as often as we can. |

Kill them all whenever, wherever they are found. |

That seems to be what is going on … and I hope it continues. As it seems there are a lot of them … |

When it comes to taking terrorists out, the laws should not be a hindrance. They don't respect any of their enemies' laws. |

Generally, I agree. We still have to follow the GCs, etc. But again, in the vast majority of cases … Send in the Drones. |
