One is reminded of the possibly spurious story that Balearic slingers were 'motivated' as children by being denied food unless they could hit it(?) with a slingshot.

I am less convinced that the slingers shown are definitely using the same techniques as slingers over 2 millennia ago…

It would depend on which technique they are using.
There is more than one way to skin a cat and, I am sure (from trying myself), more than one way to sling a stone.
