Started to look at these tokens. Then noticed a couple were not historically accurate.

Well the swastika is illegal in some of their potential markets (e.g. Europe), so I suspect they're trying to get around that.

That's probably the answer -- using the swastika now-a-days is getting to be a big no-no, even when used historically.

What the hell, where is the Australian token?? And was there even an ANZAC force in North Africa?

alan in canberra26 Jul 2022 3:01 p.m. PST

They certainly were. The ANZAC troops in North Africa comprised of the Australian 6th, 7th and 9th Divisions and the NZ 2nd Division. They were present from the beginnings of the campaigns against Italy and fought through to 1943 with the NZ forces then moving onto the Sicilian and Italian mainland campaigns.

I thought in WWII the term ANZAC was only used in Greece and Crete?

Wargamer Blue26 Jul 2022 4:27 p.m. PST

You're right Shardik. They attempted to bring the New Zealand 3rd Division under the Anzac title in the South Pacific as well but McCarthur would not let the two forces unite.

Understand why they avoided swastikas, but is there an issue with using the balkankreuz? The ‘Bundeswehr' cross just looks wrong for WW2.

This one company that does some very nice 1/300 airplane decals includes squares on the sheet, along with swastikas for the tails of German planes.
It took me a while to figure out that in lieu of the 'forbidden sign', one could attach the square.
I thought it odd at first, but then thought it was ingenious!

Seeing the Iron Cross tells me immediately that they are Germans, so what is the problem?

Yep… use of the swastika will get us banned from a number of platforms. An result of the current times we live in… and image analysis bots.

We are doing what we can. Let us know if there are other tokens you are looking for.
