The Univited, 1944
The Haunting, 1963

How could these two not be the winners?

The Uninvited is a pretty docile flick by today's standards but it scared the bejeebees outta me back in the day, and it's still a pretty taut thriller.

The 1963 The Haunting was also quite good.

I know their rep isn't the greatest, but I also like:

The Legend of Hell House, and
The 1999 The Haunting

Is the hotel in The Shining actually haunted?

I still maintain the best haunted house movie is The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Nit sure if it is a haunted house as much as an evil, possessed house, but: Burnt Offerings
