FOr those who (in the USA) want to buy miniatures from countries in the EU, now is a good time. 1 USD = I Euro and 1 USD = 1.18 GBP . For those who like to buy from Ral Partha Europe for Demonworld miniatures, or Mirliton, perry brothers or any other Miniature company in Europe, now is a good time. Prices are about 20% lower than about a year ago. |

Yeah, but the last big order on my list is H&R's Punic Wars Romans, and they're still out of production. It's enough to make a man want to clean up his painting table. |

And that is because the euro=dollar? |
robert piepenbrink | 16 Jul 2022 7:00 a.m. PST |
Not sure what you mean, johannes55. All the British and European "good prices" (for people paid in American dollars) are surely the result of the current relatively strong dollar. This comes and goes. Back when there were marks, and the dollar was worth four of them, a brother of mine stationed in Germany bought furniture on time payments. He was still paying when the dollar bought two marks, and it was a lot less fun. Wait a few years, and no doubt a stronger Pound and Euro will make US products more affordable on the other side of the Atlantic. I haven't heard a general theory of shipping costs. Covid may be a factor--fewer ships and planes and more storage costs. Some of it is presumably inflation. No doubt rising fuel costs enter in. Suppliers come and go for a number of reasons. My understanding is that some current problems--like mine--relate to required distances between workers, and possibly to a diminished workforce. Relative values of currency enter into that only at one or more removes. |

IIRC, they closed up shop a while back (warning, I could be misremembering this), but thought someone bought them out and their range(s) were being sold by another company. |

Seconding Schogun. Just placed a 28mm order with shipping cost about the price of the castings. I think I'd better stick with 2mm until they get this sorted out. |
