Well the bidding starts at $4,000 USD so, on balance, I will probably decline the invite. But if it the work of EMILE JEAN HORACE VERNET then it is probably worth far more. He did paint some of the best known images of the Napoleonic Era, but this is not his usual style, maybe an early work (not to be confused with the chap, another Vernet, who produced many an image of very, very, scantily clad ladies for sale in Arabic slave markets) |
