I encountered this game at Kublacon 2022 though I did not play it there. Since picking it up & playing it a few times I am totally hooked. I also like Roy Crabbs rules but they do not include the ground forces & don't have the solo campaign rules like MT. Any one else try them or have similar rules to suggest. While I mostly play others I do like a solo option. |

I haven't tried Missile Threat although I've read and heard good things. My go-to aerial combat series are the Wings at War collection from Tumbling Dice. They include altitude bands and have very neat mechanics involving a balance of your energy and speed through movement. Each set is specific to a conflict. Highly recommended. |

I stumbled into Missile Threat sometime in early 2020, found it to be more enjoyable than others that I tried, and have adopted it for most of my post WWII air combat. It gives more variety in aircraft performance/capability than some of the other sets that I tried, while keeping everything manageable. And, it is complete, offering air to air and air to ground combat with a huge range of aircraft, air defense, and target types listed for the post war era. It also includes instructions for adding aircraft not listed, that you might need, which won't be too many. |

I bought the rules some time ago. Looking forward to trying them out. I do recall having some questions about them, and desiring some stats for aircraft and SAMs not included in the rules, among other things. I'll have to see if I can find those, or come up with them again. |

The author has 3 YouTube videos that nicely explain Missile Threat. I have the Tumbling Dice rules on order. They are on a very slow boat. |

If you go to the Ostfront website and use the contact email address there, the the author is great about answering questions and assisting with the rules. He offered to assist me in adding early French and Polish aircraft to his WWII rules, Lacquered Coffins. I think he also does some question and answer support posted on the Wargames Vault site. |

Ah, now I remember. I was surprised and disappointed that there were no ultra-modern jets listed in them (late Sukhoi models, no Chinese jets, no F-22 or F-35, late French models IIRC, etc.), and that the Cold War in Europe wasn't listed as a "thing". Additionally, no Western SAM stats either, like the HAWK, Improved HAWK, Bloodhound, etc., etc.. I suppose I might be able to come up with some on my own. I believe I had some questions about the rules too, so need to review them again. |

No SA-5 for the Libyan attack. Also, no Improved HAWK or Patriot SAMs for the Persian Gulf, Swedish jets, or the Typhoon and Rafale. Would love stats for those lovely Sukhois too, like the Su-27+ (there is a stat for the Su-27 for an African conflict), as well as various Chinese jets. I guess I'll probably just need to trumble off and come up with some by comparing their performance stats to those provided in the rules. Seems like that should be pretty easy to do since those are pretty basic, and there is a list of points costs for those provided at the back of the book. |

The F-22 & F-35 are listed. Don't have my rules with me now. I left a comment on one of the YouTube videos & the author responded favorably about addressing your complaint It sounds like you need to download the latest version |

Hmmm, I don't recall seeing the stats for them, so will need to re-look at the rules again, and to seek out the new info. |

They are not in the scenario list. Go to the comprehensive list which is a different file |

I have the rule book, so sadly don't have access to a "comprehensive list" apparently, which is sad. Looks like that was not included in the book. |

I have the Wargame Vault version, which must be more current. JPK |

I saw a posting on this on FB to my inquiry there. Apparently, many/most of the above are provided in the PDF, but they are NOT included in the rule book, which is very disappointing to me. |

Now days, PDF is sorta the way to go. It is so easy to make updates available to purchasers. Thankfully he did continue to support the rules after they were published. I suppose he could create a website to support it from which updates could be downloaded, but it seems only larger companies do that. Wargame Vault regularly notifies me of updates to rules that I have purchased. The PDF is $12.00 USD & is the way to go. link |
