Happy 155 Canada.
Getting ready for a BBQ with 30 friends.
Summer break starts today. A big beautiful blue sky, beer, hot dogs, my wifes potatoe salad and her famous red velvet cake.
A far cry from three people last year.
Have a great day everyone.

Congratulations and best wishes, Canada. Drink at least one beer in honor of the Queen's Rangers.

Nice to see a proper guard of honour at the mid-day ceremony in downtown Ottawa. Our first Indigenous GG doing the inspection. Plenty of the troops wearing jump wings, proud reminders of our airborne tradition; many others with shiny reminders of Afghanistan. Tac teams (and several drones) keeping watchful eyes. For the next decade or so, main events will likely continue to be outside the Canadian War Museum on the appropriately named Vimy Place. Reminders of who paid what for democracy. Stood outside the Danson Theatre inside the Museum for a bit, speaking to friends, a space named for an esteemed veteran of the Queen's Own, wounded at the Falaise Gap in 1944. There was an exhibit along one wall on the liberation of the Netherlands, which was mostly by First Canadian Army. Lots to think about. Happy Canada Day indeed.

Enjoy the 156th year of the campaign, eh.

The weather held.
We ate too much.
Listened to good music.
Talked a little politics.
Sat around the fire till the wee hours.
Burned all of our masks.
Good times, good times.
Thanks for all the happy comments. Can't wait to return the favour on 4th of July.
Cheers
