"New craft for the Tartarus Rim" Topic

At long last it's time for an update.

Three new Furious class great galleons (Citadel gothic battleships): HIMS Fidelis, Cursus, and Lictor

New Tartarus Rim cruisers: from left to right TNS Vide Poche, Blanding, and Chouteau escorting the Trans Rim liner SS Spirit of Rocher

These are Valiant Enterprises castings. Nice little ships, all in all, at a good price.

Lastly, a fleet of dwarves!

I'm using Vanguard Miniatures for these. They were a bit of a challenge to paint, as I had some trouble getting the paint to adhere, but once I got past that they're pretty nice little ships. (Well, the battleship is pretty dang large. About four and a half inches, I think it was.) Anyway, fun stuff!

I should add that there's a whole Jayne's Fighting Ships of the Tartarus Rim: Part I – The Terran Empire, Part II – The Tartarus Navy, and Part III – Xenos, Abhumans, and Merchants.

I see laser beams and missiles in their collective futures.
Gothic spaceships in spaaace! is not really my thing, but you've done a great job on the photography.

Go Dwarves!! Spacefleet combat may not be my thing, but at least I know which side I'm on.

Those Valiant ships are still holding up well after 45 or so years!

Thank you! It took me a long while to warm up to the gothic spaceships. The Tartarus Rim fleet, which is to say the not-Gothic one, was classically more my speed. But I'm softened as I've gotten older. I think it's the nostalgia of later mid-life looking back at youthfulishness.

For what it's worth we're using Full Thrust for the rules. I really ought to try Space Fleet one of these days, but I don't think I've ever once played a game. I just fell in love with memories of painting the models for a friend and decided I needed my onw.

45 year? Well now! Yeah, I suppose that sounds about right. That explains why the flash is getting a bit thick around the middle. But I have no room to talk there. I've got more some flash now. Extra mold lines. And my own casting has definitely gotten soft in spots too. All that said, I've thoroughly enjoyed building spaceships made of model railroad parts. ;-)
