I usually paint my own figures but wanted a few ones for display painted by a real pro. Contacted a well known painting company in the UK last summer who were eager to do the job. I asked for an update around Christmas and was told it would be "finished soon".

In April I had still heard nothing and sent a message if they could just send me the figure and return the pre-payment for the commission, and sent me a notification when its been shipped. I received a short message where they confirmed they would do so.

It's been a years now since the commission was started and still received no notification of the figures being shipped, with no answer to my enquiry about the matter almost 2 weeks ago. I wonder if at this point I just have to consider the possibility that I will receive neither the figures nor any refund of the pre-payment. It wasn't a large amount fortunately but bummed out by the poor communication.

My sympathies, Dragoner, and not the first time I've heard such a story. I think if you persist you should be able to get the figures back. Some painter are poorly organized, and many are broke, but I never heard of outright theft.

You could post on the Consumer Affairs Board. Name and shame as they say.
