We eould not have a victorian colonial board.
Which is as stupid an answer as those questions are!

It's interesting to consider that the matter of the monarchy is not set in stone, and to reflect on the personalities of the various candidates, even if in the end the excersise determines nothing. Given the alternatives it looke like 'we' were lucky to get the fragrant Alexandra Vistoris of Kent.
(FWIW, We don't even know for sure who will be the next King of the United Kingdom)

It's a short hop to dumping Ernest and remembering its an Empire.

Emperor Augustus.

No Victorian Period, no Victorian Manners (and Manors), no Victoria's Secret…

Would the state where I live be called Ernest Augustus?

Victoria came to personify an age and outlook, due to her longevity.
I doubt a string of Ernests over that same period would have had quite the same impact.

It seems like these "What if" threads always include someone who argues that the what-if is impossible to occur. So in that spirit: "If Queen Victoria was never born another woman would have been born, named Victoria and she would have been made Queen. Therefore it is inevitable that we have a Queen Victoria."
