Ironic that a high-end London clothing store is selling George Washington pocket squares. Only $80.00 USD to $101.00 USD retail each. But don't fret Anglophiles, link link link |

What's the point? If it's in the pocket, no one will see it. If you pull it out to sneeze on it…ewww…and you probably just blew $102. USD |

If you use US bills for snotrags you can have Franklins, Grants, Lincolns, and all the Washingtons you could want… ;-) |

I've found a carefully folded Kleenex (unused preferably) works almost as well for a pocket square as fine silk. If you want to embellish the Kleenex for a special occasion, crayons or sharpie pens are the perfect tool. Cheers. |

Is the term ‘pocket square' an American thing? I've only ever heard them called handkerchiefs. Or, given that it is some poncy place in London selling them, is it just a name used by the pretentious…? |

To me a pocket square is just for show – a handkerchief is something you can use! |

"a high-end London clothing store is selling George Washington pocket squares." Maybe that's the point, "yes it looks nice, but ahead and relieve your nasal passages on it. Show your friends what you think of the US". Maybe |

"a high-end London clothing store is selling George Washington pocket squares.". It's more likely that a lot of their customers are Americans. Maybe that's the point, "yes it looks nice, but ahead and relieve your nasal passages on it. Show your friends what you think of the US". Maybe It's purely decorative and not intended to be used for blowing your nose in. I feel like this is an excellent example of "Speak so that I might see thee" |

I have a number of pocket squares, they look rather smart in my jackets, and no, it isn't some strange Americanism. I certainly don't call my waistcoats "vests". I usually get them to match the jacket linings though. |

Ok then! I've never heard the term before, but I'm more at the ‘snot-rag' end of the market! I can't stand suits, have never even worn a waistcoat, and haven't owned a tie since I left school… |
