Does anyone know of an stl file svg file to make roof tiles? It seems to me it would be very useful to be able to print off or laser cut / engrave sections of roof tiles as required when making houses in various scales. I haven't found anything but I am notoriously useless at finding this sort of thing. I'm thinking about monk and nun style roofing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monk_and_Nun) for Chinese or Mediterranean style buildings. Cheers, John |

Like individual roof tiles? That would be pretty easy to model. |

Have you tried using a piece of corrugated cardboard? I've used that by tearing off the outer layer on one side. Then used a small brass brush to gently remove the extra paper. Works pretty well! |

As an alternative, plasticard moulded tiles of various forms are used in the model railroad community and elsewhere. Here's one example: link . I've used such material very successfully on some of my Japanese buildings. |

Some cardboard cup holders come with the outer layer already removed. I save them for just this. |

You could use that plasticard sheet as a mold I bet… |

My collection is currently 15/18mm although I am tentatively thinking about reentering the 25/8mm fray . . . I thought a file that could be scaled up or down would be a good resource. The 'monk and nun' style is the typical roof tile seen in China but also in the Mediterranean and elsewhere, where there are rows of interlocking/overlapping "half pipes". A sheet of them that could be cut to size was what I had in mind. Thanks for the input everyone. Cheers, John |

Some years ago I purchased some sheets of plastic from a hobby store that was HO scale Mediterranean roofing. I think the brand might have been Kibri. It might be a tad big for 15mm but it seems to work well and certainly should be great for 18mm. Cheers!

I designed this for Novus Design Studio: link
There are only about six or seven unique shingles, which I then copied and pasted in random combinations, in order to get that medieval feeling. For the Spanish tile you're looking at, it would be even easier -- one master tile repeated as many times as necessary. This guy over on Thingiverse already has one you might be able to adapt: link |

That Thingiverse thing is the type of idea I had, but for the monk and nun style. I doubt it would be that hard. I might have a bit of a play around. I really only need to create the half pie, flip it and combine it, maybe into strips one tile deep. Javelin, that roof looks great too. The idea of a few tiles, recombined really worked.
