link Yale is tracking companies that do business in Russia and giving them a letter grade for how much and what type of investment they are doing in Russia. I see many US companies are still there particularly restaurants and medical / health companies. Does The Miniatures Page still do business in Russia? That is does TMP accept advertising from Russian companies? Mike Bunkermeister Creek |

I don't have a problem with medical and health care companies being there. Restaurants, consumer goods and industrial products, and especially communications are something else. |

Does The Miniatures Page still do business in Russia? That is does TMP accept advertising from Russian companies? Given the way business works these days, I'm often not even aware of what country a company is located in. Having said that, I don't think we've ever had a Russian advertiser. None comes to mind. |

The business of America is business. Unless and until we cut all commercial ties to Communist China, I have no problem with a company that decides to continue commercial activities in Russia. It is their business. If we want to restrict business based on immoral behavior by nations, let that be the standard and let it be applied across the board. |

Agree with Gray Bear – Amazing how many universities and companies want to cut off Israel, but have no problem with Russia, China, and others….. BTW most of our wonderful allies still buy oil from Russia – should have left NATO a long time ago! Interesting – lots of NATO Country companies on that list. |

Agree Gray Bear it is alarming how much business we do with China. But remember that Communism is a leftist ideology. Are you really surprised that liberals here in US are not out there condemning China? Israel is such an easier (and safe) target. |

Trolls to the left and trolls to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with you. @ GrayBear @ Torokchar |

"Are you really surprised that liberals here in US are not out there condemning China?" Ummm, what United States are you living in? "Leftist" Hollywood was raising Cain over Tibet when Republicans were only interested in business. Liberals have been very broadly anti-China since Tiananmen. Democratic politicians were much more anti-China and protectionist because of their union backers than free-trade conservatives were. Off-shoring and deindustrializing the United States was as much the project of the big-business backed Republican party as it was the product of post-WWII free-trade Liberalism (that's "big L" liberalism in the sense of Locke and Smith, but also associated with the Democratic intellectual establishment). |

emckinney it is now 2022 not 1990. The Democrat Party is no longer the party of the people. If it was gas, food, formula and inflation would not be at record levels. |

+1 Gray Bear. Our politicians have been in bed with China for years. I'm not getting heartburn over businesses selling Russians chicken wings and pizza slices. |

@oscs74 emckinney it is now 2022 not 1990. The Democrat Party is no longer the party of the people. If it was gas, food, formula and inflation would not be at record levels. Neither party could have had much effect on those things. Arguably Putin is having the most effect on gas prices currently which as I am sure you know, is a global market. Even before that prices were rising and the current admin released strategic reserves to help people. Yet oil companies are making record profits. Remind me again who is the party of corporations? Although on formula it certainly didn't help that there is almost a monopoly and then one of the few companies making it puts out defective product. Just sayn None of this is relevant to the topic which seems to be heading down a whataboutism rabbit hole. |
OSCS74 | 02 Jun 2022 5:59 p.m. PST |
DeRuyter totally disagree! On September 9, 2019, then-candidate Joe Biden made a clear and unequivocal promise: I want you to just take a look. I want you to look into my eyes. I guarantee you; I guarantee you, we are going to end fossil fuel, and I am not going to cooperate with them." So let's look what he has signed. 01/20/2021 – Ending Trump's Energy Independence Initiatives 01/20/2021 – ANWR 01/20/2021 – Social Costs of Carbon 01/20/2021 – Keystone XL Pipeline 01/27/2021 – Gas Lease Moratorium 01/27/2021 – Environmental Justice 02/02/2021 – EPA Hires Radical 02/04/2021 – DOJ Takes Aim at Energy Independence The list just goes on and on. Just saying, the government knew there was going to be a baby formula shortage and did nothing until there was a shortage. If not relevant why did you reply? |
Stryderg | 02 Jun 2022 6:07 p.m. PST |
The oil from the strategic reserves lasted about a day and half. So that was more theater than actual help. Shutting down pipeline projects, signaling to oil companies that they are persona non grata, putting a moratorium on drilling leases , etc all had detrimental affects on gas prices. And since oil companies are making record profits, why are their stock prices in the toilet? Members of both parties suck at representing "the people" and excel at making profitable deals (well, profitable for themselves at any rate). |

Wait, what was the original topic again? |
Cuprum2 | 02 Jun 2022 7:54 p.m. PST |
This is by no means the most complete list of large Western companies, one way or another striving to maintain their presence in the Russian market. The war will end, and it will be difficult for those who left to return to the lost markets. link |
DJCoaltrain | 20 Jun 2022 6:20 p.m. PST |
DeRuyter has the right of it. The market is going to do whatever it wants and there's nothing to be done about it by any Prez. Stryderg Doesn't matter how expensive gas is/isn't in America. Big Oily is going to export it to more lucrative markets. That's capitalism. Capitalists are not patriots, they sell to the one willing to pay the most, and Devil take the hindmost. I would suggest we do what Nixon did during his inflationary crisis. He froze wages and prices. Anybody want that? |
