I have been looking for an operational WWII game that I could play scenarios involving the Asiatic-Pacific theater. I have searched for any supplements to Spearhead since I have a copy of that ruleset but have not found any Pacific theater OOB or TO&E resources. Anyone know of any for Spearhead, or could give some suggestions on Operational games that do cover this Theater?

Hello,
I just found one directory full of Spearhead Pacific stuff which I downloaded from the net. Did you look at the existing Spearhead sites, official and not official?
Cheers,
Stefano

The Command Decision Scenario Book for the Pacific has a lot of easily adaptable rules and scenarios that you can use for Spearhead – it is called Road to Tokyo

Hello Stefanov,

I only checked the Official Spearhead Site and saw that the Japanese section was blank. The Google gods were not with me, but I found some interesting ideas for other theaters.

Hello Andrew LA,

Ill check that out, thank you

One option is to go to Nafziger and download the TO&E's you require. This is an example 1939 TO&E;

I have converted some of them into a chart form, which you can download from groups.io/g/Kriegsspiel Go to files > Part 2: BASIC ORGANISATION TOandE and select the WW2 pdf. It is focused on the USSR v japan conflicts so may not be what you are after.

Once you have a TO&E you can create your own force mix. If you have issues with scenario creation you can always created a card based system, each card lists a company and included its points value. This video provided you with how such a system could work, but you would need to create your own cards.

The old Spearhead Yahoo Group site had more files and i am certain it had some pacific TO&E's, but i cannot find any in the new IO:Group site.

If your game scale is operational, then one option is to go to the SPI site of boardgames and search for Island War, this is a set of 4 pacific battles.

Converting that into a figure game format would be rather simple, as an example you can look at groups.io/g/Schwerpunkt and look at Neu-Schwerpunkt v1. This is a conversion of the SPI Modern Battles boardgame series into a figure gaming format and the rules should also apply to island war.

You can also look at this video which provided guidelines how to create your own rules;

This shows an example game, WW2 east front in this case;

It all depends what scale you wish to play, if its platoon scale (1 element = 1 platoon) then staying with Spearhead is the better option, but this only allows you to field a Brigade per side, which may not be operational.

Hello pfmodel,

Thank you for your suggestions. I agree that a ruleset like Panzer Korps would be better suited for operational wargaming, but my friends insist on Spearhead (and it's so darn fun) I have to make the effort. Since the types of scenarios I had in mind were involving 2 regiments of the 37th Infantry Division fighting in northern Manila, and the British 5th Brigade breaking through the Japanese roadblock at Kohima, I think Spearhead should work. Also, I want to say that I have watched many of your videos and I really enjoy them.

Hello Andrew LA,

I put in a request to join that group. Thank you, I'm so old fashioned I wouldn't have even thought of Facebook for wargaming info.

Battlefront (Fire and Fury) has Pacific cards for their system.
