I've seen images of Ukrainian tanks with the blue over yellow colors painted on reactive armor and other parts of their tanks.

Has anyone seen Russian armor with the white, blue and red national colors painted on tanks? I've seen a few separatist tanks with interesting schemes but not much from Russians other than the Z, V, O and other district symbols.

I ask because I'm painting up some micro-armor and looking for interesting paint schemes. Thanks in advance.

A significant part of Ukrainian military equipment is distinguished by the characteristic "pixel" camouflage.

Russian equipment does not have any national symbols and in most cases is painted in the usual dark green color.

Thanks Cuprum, I plan to paint the Ukrainian armor in pixel which will be quite the challenge in 1/285 scale.

The only unique scheme I noticed is for the 200th Motor Rifle Brigade which has yellow numbers and symbols although some of these have been painted over with patriotic slogans.

I painted some Ukrainian armor with flags on the sides. Maybe not accurate but it works for my purposes.

Of course every conflict has to have at least two sides…

@ScoutJock: brilliant work, I like it. Very subtle but just enough to aide in identification.

ScoutJock has probably made the right assessment by setting his game with a winter backdrop, no home by Christmas here…

Scout those look terrific. What rules will you use?

The median colour in Ukrainian pixel camo seems to me to be a bit tan, so I plan to just paint the Ukrainian vehicles and infantry a tan colour to distinguish them from the Russians' dark green.

Regarding rules, I haven't really found anything I like for the ultra modern period. I like 1:1 games so my go to has always been WRG, but I tweaked them a bit by scrapping the whole tactical modes and morale rules. I replaced them with the original morale rules and updated the firing tables by mashing in the firing tables from Gary Mills' Threat rules which incorporates T80s among others.
