YouTube link "Long since thought lost this was a promotional film made for Hinchliffe Models in either 1974 or 1974 [sic]. It has been digitised from an 8mm copy made from the original 16mm film so quality isn't great, but still a nice bit of history." From this it's possible to establish that the Hinchliffe premises are actually still there, now called "Railway House" and selling medicines by post. Some interesting insights into the production process too. I read somewhere that Peter Gilder made his master figures using solder and a wire armature which explains much… |

Thanks for that, I visited the Meltham factory back in the 70's and had a great day with Frank and the staff who were very busy! |

4th Cuirassier Good find. Jim is seen holding the November 1975 issue of Military Modelling. So not before that date. It really brings back memories. When I saw that 120mm Ray Lamb Taisho at the end, it reminded me of the half dozen that I was commissioned to make and paint (I also did the Light-Gun and 5.5in Artillery pieces for R.A SNCOs and Officers). That was many, many years ago! And as for those 54mm Figures, I lost count of how many of those I did. That's apart from the 25mm figures that graced my Wargames armies. |

Loved that video. Hinchliffe is a huge part of my wargaming armies, I have hundreds upon hundreds of Napoleonics, SYW, and AWI figures all painted, and twice as many unpainted.I really liked the end of the video showing Misters Gilder and Hinchliffe playing a wargame. |
