I'm working on a Commissar Ciaphas Cain themed skirmish force for 40K, and I'm certain I'm not the first to do so!

My first question is what are the best figures to use for Commissar Cain and Jurgen. I'd prefer a straight metal Commissar with las pistol and chain sword, and a Valhallen Melta Soldier in metal, at this point. Uncertain which ones or if they exist or are strictly "Oldhammer" searches at this point.

The second question is about the Reclaimers Space Marines chapter, with whom Cain had several mis-adventures. I've found a bit about them at the fan wiki's, but not a lot.

Ideally, would love to see someone else's work in this area.

Thanks for any leads!

If you want metals, then it is certainly a case of doing digging in the second hand market.

Valhallan soldier with melta-gun certainly exists:

As for commissar with laspistol and chainsword, there was one released in the RT times, but that might look a bit dated next to later models:

Metal commissar models from the 90's would need a fair bit of converting:

However, perhaps you could try the metal Mordian figures (sergeant or lieutenant) from the 90's with a bit of converting:

I think that lieutenant would make for a great commissar figure with the right paint job, though you would need to replace the bolt pistol with laspistol.

wow, great suggestions!

I actually have the Valhallan Lt, I always assumed he was a commissar.

I'm not completely adverse to plastic, it would just depend, I guess.

Do they even make Valhallan plastic?

No Valhallan plastics that I know about, though they seem to have done plastic Death Korps of Krieg that could perhaps be converted:

Plastic Cadian command squad also features a gentleman in greatcoat and officer cap that could work as a commissar and comes with plenty of weapon options:

Alternatively, you could look for models from other manufacturers.

And speaking of other manufacturers, if you really want to go crazy with building your own models, there is the Victoria Miniatures:

These are very multi-part resin figures, and you can order the legs, bodies, arms, weapons, heads etc. separately to mix and match to taste.

If you really want Cain and Jurgen…
