Specifically in September 1944, are leafy trees green, yellow, or red? I can't tell from the black and white photos.. |

I served two 3-year tours in Germany in the 1970s and 1980s. I don't recall the trees changing to their fall colors until later in the year. But that was over 30 years ago so I may not be recollecting correctly. Jim |

Dutch trees usually don't show color until mid-late October. |

The leaves change at pretty much the same time as here, mid October. You don't get such a display of red/yellow in northern Europe compared to the US anyway as the climate is generally very different. Our ash tree just stays green the whole time then the leaves all fall off in November. |

Thanks all, I wasn't sure as some parts of the US where I'm from start in September. It sounds like I can use the same foliage for market garden and Normandy. |

I think colorized means they were originally black, white and grey. Then someone digitally processed some colour into em. |

@Andy ONeill Of course you're right. But the team that colorized the images tries to work as realistically as possible. |
